LINKIN PARK Minutes To Midnight
|
Warner mp3 music Perhaps never has there been a more textbook example of a band searching for a new sound as Linkin Park’s Minutes To Midnight. They’re trying really hard to slip the shackles of that turn-of-the-millennium nu-metal tag. Given Up is like the Linkin Park of Hybrid Theory, but the industrial chugging is only half as meaty. No More Sorrow is straight-up balls-out noise-rock. There are a few ballad-y numbers, like The Little Things Give You Away. Weirdest of all, Shadow Of The Day sounds like a teenage emo band covering a late-’80s U2 number. The band have let Mike Shinoda indulge himself on this record; returning from his solo hiphop project obviously invigorated, Shinoda produced Minutes… (along with Rick Rubin). The results are pervasive; after hearing Fort Minor, Shinoda’s twinkly, epic production is obvious, and Hands Held High - aka ‘Linkin Park get political’ - might as well be a Fort Minor track. Shinoda even sings lead vocals on In Between - no rapping. The rap-metal ship is sinking and Linkin Park know it. On Minutes To Midnight, it feels like they’re straddling the rail and buckling on the lifejackets - but perhaps afraid of the splashdown. _ BAZ MCALISTER Мой блог находят по следующим фразам |
